CAREER ANXIETY/ CAREER COUNSELING THERAPY
Most Americans will spend a third of their lives at work but on average only 52.3% of Americans report being satisfied with their jobs. Job stress may lead to anxiety and depression so finding a fulfilling career or the right educational track is important to most people’s sense of mental well-being. You might be a person who is on unemployment and struggling with anxiety and depression around vocational choices or you might be on disability and feel lost as to how to find or even access a part time job or you may be graduating and having anxiety around choices to make for your future.
At Barnett Counseling Services I want you to know that you will be supported by a licensed and trained clinical mental health therapist but you will be supported by my years of experience as a career counselor and previous career center director. The focus of support will target current anxiety or depression symptoms by providing career information and resources. Through open discussion around career development strategies, completion and interpretation of vocational assessments, exploration of educational institutions, grants, scholarships, mock interviews and resume support with a focus on transferable skills. I can also support High school students who are experiencing anxiety around choosing a career path or applying to college and exploring career field options. (This is usually a 4-5 session workshop) Persons with disabilities can also be supported by career services by accessing how their unique language and abilities can be translated to support a new career focus, cultivate retraining skills and tools or pursue a lifelong dream.
