WHAT IS TELEHEALTH PCIT FAMILY THERAPY?

PCIT stands for Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). PCIT targets skills and tools to support the parent-child relationship while nurturing healthy parent-child interaction patterns.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy is an evidenced based intervention developed by Sheila Eyberg to treat children between ages 2 and 7. This Family Therapy model is designed to support children and their parents who struggle with emotional & behavior problems, trust and attachment issues, developmental disabilities and with children who have been impacted by trauma and loss.

PCIT is done across two treatment phases. The first phase of treatment focuses on establishing warmth in your relationship with your child through learning and applying skills proven to help children feel calm and secure in their relationships with their parents and good about themselves.
The second phase of treatment will equip you to manage the most challenging of your child’s behaviors while remaining confident, calm and consistent in your approach to household structure and expectations. In this phase, you will learn proven strategies to help your child accept your limits, encouragement with following your directions, respect for and understanding of safety and house rules and skills to support appropriate behavior in public and social settings. At Barnett Counseling Services this specialized family therapy model is conducted fully online weekly in the comfort of your own home, designed around your busy schedule to best support your unique family needs with your child present.
